The journal was founded in 1961 as a collection of scientific papers "Soil Science and Agrochemistry", in 1964 it became an interdepartmental thematic collection "Soil Research and Application of Fertilizers". Since 2004 the collections have been combined and published as a periodical scientific journal "Soil Science and Agrochemistry".
